The two Virginia clubs, located about 20 miles apart, are now owned by Meadowbrook-Chesdin LLC, an investor group made up primarily of members of both clubs. They will be merged into a multi-location club to consolidate expenses, share resources and combine members in the Chesterfield, Va., area. The dual-club offering has already attracted 35 new members through the fall and winter.
The Dallas-based management firm outbid seven other companies for the contract that will pay it $5,000 a month to run the formerly private, 80-year-old club. All current staff is being retained.
The Dallas-based firm, which manages nearly 30 courses in Texas and other states, was selected from eight applicants to manage the Kilgore, Texas club by highlighting a focus on family in its proposal.
The 83-year-old Meadowbrook will stay a golf course and not be developed into housing.
