Lake Wales (Fla.) CC Sold for Undisclosed Sum

Ben Hill Griffin II, who owned the 175-acre property for 32 years, sold the club to Lake Wales Country Club LLC to refocus his company’s attention on fertilizer, citrus and cattle. The Donald Ross-designed course was built in 1926 and will be managed by Illinois-based GolfVisions Management Inc.

Florida Golfer Escapes After Alligator Attack

At Lake Ashton G&CC, the 75-year-old man was grabbed by a 9-foot, 190-lb. gator when he went to recover his ball from a pond. He survived after being let go, but needed 40 stitches to close a 10-inch gash in his leg.
