Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club in Collingwood, Ontario is undergoing a facelift, according to an article in The Enterprise-Bulletin.
With the club's mortgage paid off, club members felt it was time to give Blue Mountain's clubhouse a much-needed renovation, the club's General Manager, Jim Malley, said in the article. The dining area has been completely gutted, and the exterior of the building on the golf course side has been completely refaced.
Now, a wide bank of windows facing towards the west looks out across the course and up to the mountain. Work to install the new patio is just beginning. Inside, the bar has been redone, an electric fireplace has been installed in one corner, and new flooring graces the dining area and the main foyer; along with a new slate floor, the foyer also features two stone pillars.
The entrance to the pro shop has also been redesigned, with better sight lines into the shop from the foyer. The shop also had a bit of a makeover, with the counter reoriented to the north side to allow an easy sightline between it and the foyer.
Several years ago, the club spent $850,000 on a new irrigation system that “elevated the level of the course,” Malley said. “We're just trying to bring the clubhouse up to the same level,” he added.
