Representatives from The Archer Group have announced that the new Hale Irwin-designed golf course at The Coves at Round Mountain will be named Round Mountain Golf Club. The naming comes just weeks after the announcement that Irwin would design the highly-anticipated new course, which will be located 30 minutes south of Blowing Rock, N.C., in the town of Collettsville.

Construction on the new course is set to begin in the fall of 2008, with completion tentatively scheduled for 2011. The new course will be phased in to keep the majority of the existing course available for play during construction.

“When searching for a course name, we kept going back to the highest elevation point in the development, Round Mountain. We feel this reflects our plans for The Round Mountain Golf Club to be one of the top courses in the area and a pinnacle for golf course living in North Carolina,” said Tim Ritch, managing partner of The Archer Group.

The Coves will also feature river amenities along five miles of river frontage, an equestrian center, a fitness center, a spa and wellness center, more than 20 miles of hiking and riding trails, and fly fishing on the Johns River and Wilson's Creek.
