Talent—hidden, budding, or fully realized—never takes a vacation, even when it’s transported to an island paradise. That’s the thinking behind a new amenity that will be part of the debut of Harlequin Hotels & Resorts’ Buccament Bay Beach Resort flagship property, which is set to open in July 2010 in St. Vincent & The Grenadines in the Caribbean.
The new resort will include the first Harlequin Performing Arts Academy, which will give guests the chance to explore and evaluate their interest in singing, drama, dance and music in a wide range of workshops and master classes that will be led by experienced Broadway and West End performers, headed by Michael McCarthy, star of Les Miserables. Programs will also be offered to children ages 8-18, to help them develop performance and communication skills in a fun-filled environment.
The plan for the Academy also includes technique courses in stage management and makeup, and for regular performances at the resort that will give class participants the opportunity to showcase their talents.
As Harlequin develops other resorts in the Caribbean, it plans to continue to feature what it describes as “a novel vacation concept that combines arts training with recreation and relaxation in a fine resort setting.”
