Woodcrest CC Tries to Recapture Former Members
A day before the Cherry Hill, N.J. course, which was sold at auction in May and will now operate as a semi-private club, was set to reopen to the public, about 50 former members showed up in response to invitations that had been sent to 300 for a private day of golf, courtesy of the new ownership. But many who took advantage of the offer said they had already joined other clubs for this season and would have to see what packages would be offered to reconsider coming back as members.

Homeowners in Harahan, La., weren’t won over by a developer’s proposal to put up a shopping center on the closed Colonial Golf and Country Club property. “I don’t care how many shrubs you put around it, you can’t compare a concrete slab with green space,” said one woman who lives across the street.
