Why has golf become such a dominant force in the vacation world? Erik Holt, VP of Sales and Concierge Services for Govacationsgolf.com, cites the happy convergence of several factors: the Internet, cable TV, and Tiger Woods.

“[Woods’] pure dominance of the sport from such a young age has attracted many to take up the sport,” Holt says. “Destinations and courses shown on TV on a weekly basis now complement the PGA Tour, and people want to travel and play where the pros play.

“Golf is a sport that can be participated in by all ages and genders,” Holt adds. “And courses and resorts offer an experience that most cannot find in their own backyards. Resort destinations offer a higher quality of golf and hotels that complete a vacation. With 15,000-plus courses in the nation, there is always a new challenge around the corner.”

Mike Fitzgerald of www.golfexclusives.com agrees, reminding us that there are more golf destinations available now than ever before. “It’s a guy sport, a gal sport, a couples sport, or a family sport,” he says. “Best of all, it takes you to beautiful destinations, and can be played by all skill levels.”
