Fertigation Facts

Superintendents agree that fertigation-the application of liquid fertilizers and other nutrients through an irrigation system—should supplement, but not replace, the use of granular fertilizers. However, they add, it is proving to be a useful tool that can offer a number of advantages, including:
• Uniformity in turf health, color and density;
• Water conservation and improved water quality;
• Time and labor savings;
• Quick color enhancement, to showcase a property or to prepare for a special event.
