(Eternal) Life?

www.HalfBakery.com is a Web site where anyone can contribute ideas and/or critique other people’s thoughts. After recently coming across an entry on the site about an idea for a golf-themed cemetery (“What a lovely way to pay tribute to that golfer who used to be in your life,” the contributor wrote), we discovered that—at least in this realm—the concept wasn’t all that far-fetched.

A little more research revealed that Batesville Casket (www.batesville.com ) offers products (far left) with “custom corners” featuring golf-related icons, and interiors that can be embroidered with club or course logos. And Art Caskets from F&F Metal Products (www.artcaskets.com) offers—we swear this is true, as we live and breathe—a “Fairway to Heaven” model,
covered with a pastoral golf scene (near left). Just last month, another casket company announced a licensing agreement with Major League Baseball to offer team-logoed cremation urns. We certainly hope this trend toward “die-in tie-ins” stops, before we someday see a “Last Hole” section of a pro shop. On second thought, we’d be dying to see that.
