A fire ripped through the 19th-century Oaks Country Club in Goose Creek, S.C., earlier this month, razing a 1960s addition and damaging the roof and part of the second floor of the Georgian-style house. The clubhouse is on 39 acres of The Oaks Plantation.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and no one was in the building at the end of The Oaks Avenue when a Goose Creek police officer spotted smoke at 12:10 AM.

Officials estimated that 70 firefighters were on scene at some point before the blaze was brought under control at 5:30 AM. Authorities said the fire started in the kitchen, located in an area that opened onto a swimming pool.

The property is listed for sale at $12 million by Prudential Carolina Real Estate.
