A Clock Garden

With a cozy little seating area and beautiful view, the clock at Bay Creek Resort & Club in Cape Charles, Va. is doing a lot more than simply telling the time.
Similar to the clock recently featured at Round Hill Country Club in the November issue of C&RB (p. 56-57) Bay Creek installed a clock in 2005 to match the 19th Century architectural styles of the surrounding buildings.
Today the clock serves a number of purposes. The first, and most obvious, is for those in viewing distance to know the time. The second is as a distinctive landmark on the property. The third, and perhaps most interesting, is that the guests and members have turned the area around the clock into a gathering point-a destination even-for those who might not be playing golf.
"The clock garden has become a popular spot for our members and guests," says Stevenson. "It's a very serene and relaxing place on the property."
