Ms. V’s Restaurant at Madden will host a grand opening at the Dayton, Ohio golf course on May 15. The restaurant will serve hot dogs, Polish sausages, and mini subs, with soul food delivered by request.
Barbara Vinzant, owner of Diamond D’s Diner in Dayton, Ohio, has been awarded the food-service contract for the city of Dayton’s Madden Golf Course—where she first joined the Madden Women’s Golf Association more than 25 years ago, the Dayton Daily News reported.
Her new restaurant—Ms. V’s Restaurant at Madden—will host a grand opening on May 15, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for noon, the Daily News reported.
Joe Parlette, director of recreation and youth services for the city of Dayton, said Vinzant was awarded the food-service contract after the contract was let out for bid, the Daily News reported.
“Diamond D’s had the best proposal,” Parlette said. “We’re really looking forward to this relationship, especially because of Barbara Vinzant’s long-time association with Madden.”
Diamond D’s Diner will continue to serve its menu in Dayton. Vinzant said the menu at her new golf course restaurant will differ from her flagship restaurant, which opened in 2011 in a former Church’s Fried Chicken that had been vacant for 16 years, the Daily News reported.
“Golfers prefer quick food items that they can eat with one hand and drive the cart with the other,” Vinzant said, citing menu items such as beef hot dogs, Polish sausages, chicken-salad sandwiches, fish sandwiches and mini-subs. Upon request, however, golfers can have soul-food dinners delivered to Ms. V’s Restaurant from Diamond D’s, Vinzant said.
The golf course restaurant is open to the public and is available for private parties and luncheon meetings. A special Father’s Day dinner is in the works for June 21, the Daily News reported.
Vinzant said she had been a member of the Madden Women’s Golf Association for more than 25 years “but took a leave of absence when I opened Diamond D’s Diner” in 2011. She rejoined last year.
“Blessings keep coming my way, and I am truly thankful as I try to fulfill a need in the community,” Vinzant said.
