On May 1, Ballantyne Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. will unveil its Cabana Grill, a new casual bar and grill that will be open for three seasons out of the year. Located next to the club’s pool complex, the Cabana Grill will feature a hard-covered open-air terrace, fire place, fire pit and a bar with 16 flat screen televisions.
Upgrades of the golf course and practice facility are also underway at Ballantyne CC, with course improvements including rebuilding all bunkers using the Better Billy Bunker System; resizing and revamping select bunkers to enhance course play, and reshaping all tee boxes into rectangular tees.
The club is also converting current bentgrass greens to Bermuda and replacing asphalt cart paths with concrete. Practice space is being increased by adding bays, improving the layout of the range and expanding the short-game practice area.
Ballantyne’s Family Activities Center, which includes tennis courts and facilities, pools, the fitness center and children’s activities, has already received a facelift. Improvements included replacing the receptionist desk in the main lobby, replacing all tile and carpeting, painting, adding new strength equipment and sports flooring in the fitness center, and replacing the fencing around the tennis courts. Further improvements include upgrading the changing rooms, adding new pool furniture, and installing a water/ice station inside the facility.
Ballantyne’s main clubhouse is also scheduled to receive upgrades including carpeting and paint, updated restrooms, and a larger kitchen. Crews will also remove a large wall that separates the club’s two dining rooms to make one large banquet hall.
All of the upgrades are part of Ballantyne CC’s Maintenance & Improvement Plan created and approved by the membership.
