Pacific Links Hawaii is selling the West Oahu, Hawaii property in a deal that is expected to close at the end of March. The property will remain a public golf course and will operate as usual throughout the sale.
Pacific Links Hawaii is selling its Kapolei Golf Club in West Oahu, Hawaii to an unidentified buyer in a deal that is expected to close at the end of March, the Honolulu-based Pacific Business News reported.
All employees of have been notified of the prospective change in ownership, Micah Kane, COO of Pacific Links Hawaii said. Kane declined to disclose the selling price, the Pacific Business News reported.
“Kapolei Golf Club will maintain business as usual throughout this transaction,” he said. “Pacific Links Hawaii’s commitment to enhance the quality of golf in Hawaii is unwavering. It continues to own and/or operate two golf courses in Makaha Valley as well as Olomana Golf Links in Waimanalo, and Royal Hawaiian Golf Club in Kailua.”
A source close to the situation told Pacific Business News that the buyer is from Japan.
Pacific Links Hawaii, a subsidiary of Pacific Links International, which is owned by Chinese entrepreneur Du Sha, who is a Canadian citizen, purchased the 18-hole, 7,001-yard golf course about five years ago from Japanese investors. The Ted Robinson-designed Kapolei Golf Club opened in 1995, the Pacific Business News reported.
The course hosted the LPGA’s Hawaiian Ladies Open from 1996 to 2001, and was the site of the annual NCAA Kent Youel Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Hawaii women’s golf team. More recently, it had hosted the PGA Champions Tour golf tournament for the past three years, although this year’s event, which will be played in September, has been moved to China, the Pacific Business News reported.
Kapolei Golf Club will continue to be a public golf course with course and restaurant operations continuing to operate as usual and all tee times, restaurant reservations being honored, according to a newsletter to Pacific Links Hawaii members, the Pacific Business News reported.
