Charges will be filed against three minors after fire broke out at the vacant Red Lion (Pa.) Country Club earlier this month, the Mechanicsburg (Pa.)-based Penn Live reported.
Three male juveniles from Red Lion admitted to their involvement in the fire and will be charged with arson, burglary and criminal trespass, according to a Wednesday news release from York Area Regional police, Penn Live reported.
C&RB reported on the devastating blaze on February 12.
Several York County fire departments responded to the two-alarm fire around 2 a.m. on February 10 after regional police officers saw smoke coming from the building during a routine patrol. Crews battled the fire until after 6 a.m. and the flames claimed much of the building, Penn Live reported.
An investigation into the fire by regional police and the state Police Fire Marshal’s office revealed that multiple fires had been set within the building. Investigators reviewed the burglar alarm log, which showed an entry alarm was activated about 5:14 p.m. and multiple motion and door alarms were activated within a short period of time. The log showed that the last door alarm was activated at about 5:58 p.m., Penn Live reported.
The building’s basement smoke and fire alarm, sprinkler alarm and first floor smoke and fire alarm were activated within minutes of the last door alarm, Penn Live reported.
The Red Lion Area School District owned the country club and it was listed for sale at $2.5 million by the school district. The damage to the building was estimated at $1,000,000 to the structure and $316,000 worth of damages to contents of the building, Penn Live reported.
