Tuuci, LLC filed patent infringement allegations against FiberBuilt Umbrellas & Cushion’s Contempo Umbrella, but voluntarily dismissed its complaint in November 2014.
For the past year, FiberBuilt Umbrellas & Cushions has been fighting allegations of patent infringement from Tuuci, LLC in federal court. The case alleged patent infringement of FiberBuilt’s Contempo Umbrella, which is exclusively sold to Texacraft/Winston Contract, a Brown Jordan International Company. FiberBuilt has maintained, from their outset, that the allegations were devoid of merit and simply a tactic to avoid lawful competition.
On November 24, 2014, Tuuci voluntarily dismissed its complaint. The lawsuit dismissal culminated several months of litigation and came immediately after FiberBuilt refused Tuuci’s offer to settle the matter confidentially.
“We will not be intimidated by rival competitors,” FiberBuilt CEO Paul Knapp said. “Our continued success in the industry is based on our commitment to providing customers with the highest quality shade products and developing new styles that fill a need in the marketplace. I personally supervise every step of the R & D process for new products. We take pride in being a leading manufacturer of umbrellas. We stand behind all of our shade products. We are very proud of the growth in the variety of our offerings and our increase in market share over the years.”
