The Briar Club in Houston, Texas is moving forward with the second phase of its $30 million renovation, the Houston Business Journal reported.
The first phase, which features a new four-story, 500-space parking garage across the street from the club, just wrapped up, paving the way for the next phase to begin in early October, the Business Journal reported.
The new construction includes:
• An expansion of the clubhouse
• An expanded 2,400-square-foot kids and teen center
• A six-lane, junior Olympic-size pool for adults
• Three hard-surface tennis courts
• New lockers and a lounge area in the fitness center
• New resort-style pool with an outdoor cafe
The majority of the amenities are slated for completion by the end of 2015. The resort pool is scheduled to finish in the spring of 2016. A conceptual $24 million plan was approved by the club’s membership two years ago, the Business Journal reported.
Brookstone Construction is the general contractor for the next phase, and the project architect is Jackson & Ryan Architects. Both are based in Houston. St. Louis-based The McMahon Group designed the strategic plan for the project, the Business Journal reported.
A member-owned recreational and social club in the River Oaks area, Briar Club has about 1,200 members, adding about 100 this year, the Business Journal reported.
