Like many clubs, The Country Club at Mirasol hosts ladies luncheons throughout the season. Recently, the club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., used a member’s connection to have one event help support a worthy cause.
Mirasol’s first collaboration with Dress for Success, an organization that promotes economic independence for women by providing professional attire, support, and career development tools, generated $4,000 through a wine basket raffle for its Palm Beach chapter. About 100 women attended the luncheon, which featured Star Jones as the keynote speaker.
Renee Hayes, Mirasol’s Events Manager, says that many of the club’s members knew little about the organization, so Mirasol’s annual open-format Volunteer Day provided the ideal opportunity to spark interest and spread awareness.
“I have been a member at Mirasol for years, and knew that a collaboration between our generous residents and the Dress for Success organization would be a success,” said Debra Kelly-Ennis, who is also a Board member of Dress for Success and helped to create the connection.
“I was thrilled to see my dream become a reality—and to have the incomparable Star Jones and my dear friend and Dress for Success CEO Joi Gordon on hand made it even more special for myself and my neighbors,” Kelly-Ennis added.
