A re-opening celebration and golf tournament is planned for the Tamarac, Fla., club, which has been closed since August and held a soft re-opening in mid-December. The tournament is open to the public and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries is scheduled to kick off the festivities, followed by rounds on both the Championship and Glades courses.
Colony West Golf Club, owned by the City of Tamarac, Fla., will host a re-opening celebration and golf tournament on Saturday, January 18.
The tournament is open to the public and kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on the Championship Course with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. The $30 fee includes greens and cart fee, continental breakfast, on-course contests and a donation to benefit the Parks & Recreation of Tamarac Foundation. The Glades Course will be open for regular play with a rate of $25 for greens and cart fee.
Closed since late August, Colony West had a soft re-opening in mid-December. Billy Casper Golf’s golf course maintenance program has worked to restore the daily fee Colony West’s Championship Course. Improvements are also being made to the Glades Course executive layout.
“We are ecstatic to officially welcome back our loyal golfers,” said General Manager Tony Harris. “The grand re-opening event will be a wonderful way for the community to re-connect with Colony West and re-discover the wonderful attributes of this club.”
Selected to manage Colony West in October, BCG is directing turf management, operations, marketing and sales, staffing and training, merchandising, restaurant activities, special events and financial management. BCG has enacted its proprietary “BCGreen” initiative at Colony West to conserve, protect and enhance the environment, while also enrolling the course in the Audubon International “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” program.
Opened in 1971, Colony West offers the par 71, 7,312-yard Championship Course, and the executive-length, par 65, 4,207-yard Glades Course. Both were designed by Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin.
The clubhouse includes a fully stocked pro shop and grill room dining.
