The Dallas-based firm, which manages nearly 30 courses in Texas and other states, was selected from eight applicants to manage the Kilgore, Texas club by highlighting a focus on family in its proposal.
Dallas-based Eagle Golf will manage Meadowbrook Country Club, including its formerly private golf course, restaurant and pro shop, the Longview News-Journal reported.
The Kilgore City Council selected the firm in a special session that authorized the city staff to negotiate with Eagle Golf. Contract terms have yet to be worked out between the firm, City Manager Scott Sellers and City Attorney Robert Schleier, the News-Journal reported.
Eagle Golf was selected from a group of eight entities that responded to the city’s request for proposals to run some portion or all elements of the former private club, which the city bought earlier this year, the News-Journal reported.
Sellers said Eagle Golf emphasized a focus on family for the Kilgore, Texas club in its proposal, which the council found appealing. The company manages nearly 30 courses in Texas and across the U.S., the News-Journal reported.
“In Kilgore, they want to take a little different approach,” Sellers said. “They don’t want this just to be a golf course. They want this to be a place families can gather, with a golf component.”
