The line of job seekers for the Sherrodsville, Ohio resort, which is set to open Oct. 1, extended from the resort’s entrance to the end of the parking lot, with a mix of teenagers and business personnel applying for various positions.
Approximately 675 people showed up at a job fair to fill 30 to 40 jobs at Atwood Resort and Golf Club, the Dover-New Philadelphia Times-Reporter reported.
The Sherrodsville, Ohio resort, which is set to open Oct. 1, held a job fair on August 15 and the line began forming long before the 9 a.m. start time, extending from the front door to the end of the parking lot.
While some candidates dropped off resumes, about 550 people were given brief interviews. Randy Budd, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for hiring management company Radius Hospitality, interviewed applicants until 7:30 p.m., the Times-Reporter reported
“It was important for us to get in front of the people and meet them. It was a really neat experience. We had applicants from Canton and the surrounding area, but more than 70 percent were from the immediate community,” Budd said. “It was overwhelming for me. It was an emotional day.”
Jobs available include a general manager for the lodge; personnel, accounting, front office, sales, catering and banquet manager positions; servers, housekeepers, chefs and cooks; plus maintenance positions and employees for the golf club, the Times-Reporter reported.
Most applicants, ranging from teenagers to seasoned business personnel, waited about two hours for a chance to be interviewed. After 7 to ten days of narrowing down applicants, top prospects will be called for second interviews, the Times-Reporter reported.
