The auction will see the Weatherford, Texas property and the adjacent Mickle’s Valley View Ranch, under the same ownership, divided into 28 tracts to be sold. The club’s golf course will remain a single tract.
Canyon West Golf Club will go on the auction block on September 27, the Weatherford (Texas) Democrat reported.
Wes and Stan Mickle, who also own Mickle’s Valley View Ranch, currently own the Weatherford, Texas club. They intend to sell both facilities and their associated land.
The two adjacent properties total 506 acres, which will be sold as 28 tracts. All will sell at absolute auction, with no minimum bid or reserve. The golf course will sell as a single tract, the Democrat reported.
McLemore Auction Company of Nashville, Tenn., will manage the sale in partnership with Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company of Columbia City, Ind.
“Out of the total of 505 acres, 309 acres are part of the ranch, which has excellent stables, paddocks and other equine facilities,” said Will McLemore, President of McLemore Auction. “Most other tracts are beautiful rolling pastures and scenic land. There are six tracts fronting on I-20, for example, that I expect will be of interest to some who are interested in commercial development along the highway.”
The ranch will sell in tracts to allow the largest possible number of bidders to participate, the Democrat reported.
“Nobody knows what the future will hold for the golf club or the ranch,” said Wes Mickle, who built the course in the 1990s along with his son, Stan. Canyon West Golf Club opened in 1997.
