Westwood CC Owners Look to Swap Courses with Town

Mensch Capital bought the Williamsville, N.Y., club in March to prevent bankruptcy and is now proposing a trade with the city for the Amherst Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo, N.Y.

Mensch Capital, owners of Westwood Country Club in Williamsville, N.Y., is proposing to trade the course with the town’s municipal golf course, Amherst (N.Y.) WIVB 4 reported.

Mensch Capital purchased the club in March to prevent potential bankruptcy and is now looking to transfer ownership to the town of Amherst in exchange for the 173-acre Amherst Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo, N.Y., WIVB 4 reported.

“We believe that this project will provide real tax benefits for the town and probably thousands of jobs inside the community,” said Andy Shaevel, partner with Mensch Capital. “We believe that it will provide for real parkland designations for all of these neighbors that are adjacent to the Westwood property and finally, a much better golf venue for the entire community.”

Mensch Capital is keeping in mind the community’s reaction to taking over the land and is listening to what members of the community, local business and property owners have to say about the proposal, WIVB 4 reported.
