Blue Skies CC Sold at Auction

The Yucca Valley, Calif., club sold for just over $470,000 to a local publishing company owner. The first step in rebuilding the property will be clearing brush to avoid a fire hazard.

Blue Skies Country Club in Yucca Valley, Calif., sold at auction on July 24 for just over $470,000, KESQ Channel 3 reported.

Local publishing company owner Bill Brehm, Sr. purchased the property. Cindy Melland, Brehm’s daughter and publisher for the Hi-Desert Star, said the family is excited about the new project.

“It’ll take a while, but we’ll bring it back,” said Melland. “It may be a little bit different depending on how many holes and what the community wants, [but we’re] looking forward to bringing it back to pristine condition.”

Even residents that described the club as “rundown and neglected” are starting to feel hopeful about the property, KESQ Channel 3 reported.

“That’s one of the perks of living here in Yucca—we’re so close to so many outdoor activities and an active lifestyle,” said Mayor Dawn Rowe. “We want to attract the retirement community, and that’s a big part of the retirement community.”

The new owners plan to quickly clear brush to avoid fire danger and make the property safer for the neighborhood. They have not announced if they will still call the club “Blue Skies” or when it will re-open, KESQ Channel 3 reported.
