Updates for the Glen Cove, N.Y., course are part of a long-term plan and have been spurred by the club’s hosting of the 2014 USGA Women’s Amateur Championship.
The Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., is planning renovations for its golf course as part of a long-term plan. The club originally had only nine holes before it became an 18-hole, Herbert Strong course. This renovation will be the first since the 1980s.
The renovations seek to preserve the welcoming atmosphere of the private golf club. The par 70 course was founded in 1896 and restorations began in the 1920s. While the hosting of the 2014 USGA Women’s Amateur Championship spurred the project’s timing, it is part of the overall maintenance and upkeep of the course.
Custom Golf Materials, a manufacturer of construction materials for contractors, towns, school districts, athletic field and golf courses, will work with the club on the renovation.
