The Boerne, Texas resort’s new owners, including country music star George Strait, invested a “significant amount of time and money” to the property’s renovation before selecting a management firm for the 27-hole championship golf course.
The owners of The Resort at Tapatio Springs in Boerne, Texas have selected Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Troon Golf to manage the property. The resort is located 30 miles from San Antonio and features 27 holes of championship golf by architect Bill Johnston.
Country music singer George Strait and his business partner, Tom Cusick, have been the owners since 2011 of Tapatio Springs, which was developed in 1981 and features limestone cliffs, towering oak trees and clear springs. An executive 9-hole course and 6,000-sq. ft. conference center were added in the 1990s.
The property marked its 30th anniversary last November with ceremonies to mark the completion of a series of renovations under the new ownership (“Tapatio Springs Reveals Renovation,” C&RB, December 2011).
“George and I have invested quite a bit of time considering the future management of this jewel of a resort,” said Cusick. “We quickly determined that we needed the best in the business, so selecting Troon was a natural fit. After contributing a significant amount of time and money in totally renovating The Resort, this final step with Troon will take us to the level of excellence we both desire.”
