Greenville CC purchased Brook Valley CC; the new club, named Greenville Golf and Country Club, will remain open to members.
After recent negotiations, Greenville (N.C.) Country Club and Brook Valley Country Club, Greenville, N.C., have agreed to merge due to economic pressures, reports WTIN, the Greenville area NBC affiliate.
According to an email from the clubs to its members, Greenville CC has come to an agreement with Brook Valley CC to buy the club and merge it with its own.
In regards to the economic influence in their decision the email says, “Most consultants advise that a town of 100,000 can support one club and Greenville has less than 100,000 and three clubs competing for business. The time is right to take advantage of the economies that are present with the merging of the two clubs.”
Officials say both clubs will remain open to its members, but they will save money by having one management team. The club’s new name is the Greenville Golf and Country Club.
