Groups Submit Proposals for Lawton (Okla.) Municipal GC

The Lawton Metropolitan Area Airport Authority terminated the lease of the current course operators at their request, due to declining revenue. Groups have begun submitting proposals to take over operations of the course, located on the south end of the airport’s runway, despite concerns about finding a new water source for irrigation. The Federal Aviation Authority has also threatened to cite the course as a hazard for bird strikes, because of geese and other fowl that roost on an existing pond.
