Raleigh Builder Offers Memberships in Pinehurst Resort as Sales Incentive

Raleigh home builder, Rex Vick Jr., is banking on a unique perk to help sell the 73 townhome units he’s building in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C. Included in the purchase price of a home at Villas at Forest Hills is the membership initiation fee of $40,000 to Pinehurst Resort and County Club, reports the Triangle Business Journal.

Homebuyers are paying the $40,000 initiation fee as part of the price of their villa, but it’s considered a privilege by some to be able to do so. That’s because a strict rule at Pinehurst Country Club requires that members own property within the Village of Pinehurst’s 14.3-mile limits.

While on the outskirts of the Rees Jones-designed Pinehurst No. 7 course, Vick says his homes are located just inside the village limits.

Membership at the club has plenty of perks, including access to a spa, restaurants, a 200-acre lake, 24 tennis courts and the 22 golf professionals on staff. Monthly membership rates range from $100 for social members to $350 for full access to courses 1-6, including the famed No. 2, which will host both the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open championships.
