After decades of hoping for a stroke of luck as they watched their resort fall into disrepair, residents from a once popular golf resort in Polk County, Fla. have set their sites on a promising future coming over the horizon.

According to an article in the Orlando Sentinel, Feltrim Developments has contracted to buy the 36-year-old Haines City resort for an undisclosed sum and invest $300 million to rehabilitate it over the next 10 years. A closing is scheduled for October.

The community, which will be called Horizons at Grenelefe, will feature, among other upgrades, a redesigned golf course by Arnold Palmer Design. The company plans to model the existing West Course after New Jersey’s famed Pine Valley Golf Club.
