Jack Nicklaus and Jaime Said, President and Founder of Patagonia Virgin Frutillar Golf & Resort, have signed an agreement to bring the first Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course to the Republic of Chile. The official signing was a significant step in bringing to life the upscale resort and residential community, located in the picturesque town of Frutillar in the Patagonia region of South America.
Frutillar offers views of neighboring volcanoes, including Osorno, which stands as "guardian" to what many have considered one of the world's most breathtaking destinations.
"We not long ago opened our first Nicklaus Design golf course in South America, and while there, I had the opportunity to travel and fish the Patagonia region. So I witnessed first-hand the beauty and virtually untapped potential of this area," says Nicklaus. "We are excited to further introduce and grow the game of golf in this country."
This will be the first integrated resort and residential community in the Chilean Patagonia to include a luxury hotel with a spa, wellness center and meeting facilities; residential offerings totaling more than 400 units; a village consisting of highend retail shops; sports facilities; marina services; sailing activities; polo field; nearly 100 acres of native forest; and an 18-hole golf course.
